I was trying to replace the dome light bulb using a needle nose and saw a spark . I think I may have caused it to short out. Now my anti-theft device won't work and I can't lock the doors manually. Where should I start?

    Maybe it blew a fuse?
    Is the light not working?

    What year is your truck?

I gave up on the bulb after the spark. Too dam hard to get it in the right position. 2001Tacoma. I've had issues with it since I bought it.

Just wondering if the spark is what caused the issue with the anti- theft and door locks

Are you saying the electric door locks don’t work?
Or that you can’t lock the doors with the key?

The Dome light (if set to Door), and the door locks are controlled by the Body ECU.
It’s possible you have a bad door switch?

Some vehicles won’t let you lock the door if one of the doors is open.
My diagrams don’t show a “door” light on the dash. So testing them isn’t going to be easy.
Unless, you install a dome bulb. If the dome light comes on/goes out when you open and close a door, you know that door detection switch works…..

Can't lock doors with the key fob or the keys. I'll try inserting the bulb first then check the fuse. If all else fails maybe go to the dealer. Thanks for your help!
