Ok everyone. This is my first attempt at asking for help. I have a 1997 with the 2.4 motor which has been giving me a PO325 code for several weeks. I have changed the knock sensor 3 times, finally using an expensive one from Toyota. Still throws a code and retards the timing to the point of no power. I used my meter to check for continuity on the wire to the sensor and everything appears to be good. I’m at a COMPLETE loss and don’t know what to check next. Everything I’ve read says the PO325 code should be a bad sensor. Anybody else had this issue. Any ideas or advice will be appreciated. TW

Do you get a code if you run higher octane fuel? Try some 91/92 and see if that helps. If it does go from there.

Does the '97 have a distributor? Could be advanced too far.

I am not very familiar with the 2.4 of that era so I am of limited help but at this point I would suspect that you do have pre-ignition/knocking and the source of that needs to be addressed.

Yes it does have a distributor. I will check the timing tomorrow and see where it’s set. Thanks
