    This thing is one of the most pleasant automotive modules to take apart that I've ever encountered. Here are some photos of the boards and ICs inside of my head unit.

    Lots of other photos attached as ZIP files showing interior details and closeups of the bigger ICs.

    It has three partitions, the first of which appears to contain the map data for the nav module. I took a copy of it while it was out. It's only accessible by separating the nav module from the head unit as it's on the hidden side again the back of the screen.

    it means to update built in navigation you have to install new card inside the unit, good to know!
