Yeah it'll still be winter until Sunday around here. Tuesday is a high of 42 and rain... :annoyed:

I don’t think so. Sticker shock. Looking at Ford Tremor, Chevy ZR2 or Ram Rebel. A couple of years old. I was thinking that I wouldn’t feel the affiliation with any of those trucks that I do with the Tacoma. Gonna miss that.

Well, since you are considering used, the last gen tundra is a fantastic and reliable truck that I would highly recommend over any other. Very minimal known issues. Gas mileage is probably worst issue but a worthwhile trade-off for reliability. Getting the 38 gallon tank helps out a lot. Even though they are a half ton they are capable (though it's not recommended) of towing a 5th wheel. This was mine and I only got rid of it because it was too big for the trails I regularly find myself on.

The sister forum to Tacomaworld (tundras.com) is just as fantastic as here but with less dumpster fires.

some of us have grown fond of the gentle warmth provided by a nice dumpster fire.

I was set on a Tundra when I decided I was going to sell my Tacoma. My husband was going on about the cost but i don't think he considered one that was a couple of years old but brand new. Maybe we will look into it more.

As someone who is not brand loyal and has no stake in it, I would highly recommend looking into it more as the other vehicles you listed have somewhat spotty reputations for reliability.

Tremor is the only decent tow rig on your list, and they aren't any cheaper than a used 2.5 gen Tundra.

The Rebel is a fantastic ride, but it barely tows more than a Taco comfortably to be honest.

And a ZR2.... You're better than that lol

    2nd gen Tundra owner here.

I'm shopping for my next Tundra. It will be a 2021 or similar.

I have zero interest in a 3rd Gen Tundra.

The 5.7 pulls the 5th wheel camper just fine. I drug the 8500# camper to south Carolina back in December and am fixing to head north to Michigan in 3 weeks.

14 mph vs 18(Tacoma) is hardly worth doing the math.

Once you drive a tundra and realize how fast it is, the Tacoma will be forgotten pretty quick.

I love my Tacoma, my tundra gets the work done.

In addition, if I have an accident, the wife feels her chances of survival is better.

I was impressed with the 3rd gen Tundra when I rented one for a few days. It's probably best to wait at least another year or so on those though, just for the inevitable bugs.

Of the vehicles you listed, the 2nd gen Tundra is probably the most reliable but will eat gas as it is based around a 2000's platform.

I've heard good things about the Trail Boss Silverados, although I can't say for the full size ZR2. Personally, I have a bit of a trust issue with GM and reliability after my recent truck and several other vehicles we've had. Not to mention issues several coworkers have had.

Same goes for the RAM. Some have good luck, and others have nothing but problems. With RAM, most seem to be related to electronics though. Although one coworker has also had to fix leaky headers in a truck that's newer than my Tacoma. He also had an issue with a 4x4 drive shaft (I believe that's what ended up being the issue), but he also has a massive lift and tires on it so that was more likely the cause of that.

I've heard mixed things about the Tremor. But, at least the body is aluminum. Some people are mixed on that. It is more expensive to fix, but it is more dent resistant than the steel bodies and will not rust.

All have their pluses and minuses.

I agree about pluses and minuses. It makes it difficult to make a choice or to differentiate them when I test drive them. The Ram is difficult because I have 2 friends that had one and loved it and one currently has one and loves it. But then all other sources are scaring me off from them with their issues. AS far as the second gen Tundra's what is the most recent year that gen was produced? I would like to get a newer/used truck with lower miles. I really like the Tremors. Awesome options, peppy/powerful engine with get up and go and a lot of torque for pulling the travel trailer. And its a nice truck. I need to research common problems with it.

They can be added pretty easily though if you end up in a 2019-2021
