Offered $42k for trade-in at the dealer a month ago...

We just picked up a low mileage 2021 4WD SR5 Premium CPO that was a lease turn in for $46K.


The dealership has a markup up from 5-15k for new so we were happy with the deal.

New 2WD SR5 Premiums were listed 52K with markup and they have a 2023 Solar Octane Pro T4R for 71k!

 

Dealer just called and told me our 40th anniversary edition has been allocated, paying MSRP $49k

 

Bought this 2018 Limited in January of 2018. MSRP was $45,500, paid $41,800. "Rubio" is my wife's daily driver, and great for roadtrips with all of the interior space. We also really like the full-time TC which is nice for mixed road conditions. It's so well built, and we're hoping to own it for at least 15 years.



For upcoming Christmas, I have already bought 17" TRD wheels. (Wife has been hinting.) I'll keep the 20" wheels for dedicated snow tires as our future home is the Black Hills (the future driveway will go where he's sitting).

 

Got the wife’s brand new 2022 Trd off-road premium in august for $46k out the door. Will be installing a lift as soon as I can decide between icon or ome.
and got my daily driver 1997 sr5 5speed for $1000 in 2021

 

Looking for ours right now. How was the experience with the dealership and getting that OTD price?
Currently I’m thinking Heartland Toyota gives the best prices due to their involvement in the Costco auto program and their county tax rate

 

Well our situation was alittle different than most. My wife had a 2016 Tacoma that she bought new and we did all of the maintenance and modifications on and it never saw a dealer ever except while we were building our house we decided to let the dealership handle the 3rd brake light recall which in short story form the absolutely butchered and took 6+ months. Had it back 2 or 3 times because the sunroof leaked into the crawl control after the brake light repair and all sorts of things ended up happening. Had to show up to the dealer with my truck and trailer and threaten them to pull it out of their service bay to finally get her truck back.
in any case we ended up getting her Tacoma traded in and got her 4Runner for invoice price.
Was not a pleasant experience by any means and just like the Tacoma this 4Runner will never be back to a dealership ever again

 

Holy crap man. That is one heck of a dealership service dept nightmare. That’s definitely a unique experience

A little too much…paid msrp which was 48k but they forced me to buy their crap which I refused but they said I couldn’t buy it if I didn’t get it so I told them not to install it (they wanted to add the karr alarm which is pure shit and a modulating brake light which is pure shit garbage as well) so all together I paid another 3k wasn’t the smartest financial move on my part but even with the market being shit today you can’t get a lunar rock trdorp for msrp I mean you probably can if you call a ton of dealers and fly out to another state but I just drove an hour to get mine so the markup was worth the convenience

 

Buying a white 2021 Off Road Premium with 4,600 miles for $47k private party. Everything I’ve seen from the dealership is that + $4k of add ons and that’s before tax/title/doc fees.

The market prices from Seattle to Portland is still higher than that. I’ve been watching for months now

 

Have you checked longo or any of the msrp stealerships? Since you don’t want lunar rock I think you should be able to snap a brand new one for msrp fairly easily

 

I'm thinking about trading-in my 2020 Tacoma TRD Off-Road for a 4Runner Pro. My Tacoma is built out, but not sure if a dealership wants/will take a truck like this. (Not including the RTT and awning). Does anyone have experience with this? Advice? I'm in Olympia, WA. Thanks.

 

I would say strip it and trade it in or sell it private party. The dealer will give you less than if it was stock. They don’t care about add ons. They prefer a stock vehicle so they can move it quickly.
I would strip it and sell what you don’t want and then use what you can on a new rig

I have the RTT listed on Facebook Marketplace and Craig's List, plus the awning, fridge and other parts are also listed on CL.

 

I did yeah. They rarely had them in stock. Only found 2 dealerships by me that would do MSRP, but then there’s $1300 added for delivery fee and they “require” you buy thousands of dealer installed accessories so it would’ve been ~$5k more than what I paid

 

2020 4runner sr5p mgm 28k miles. Bought in February 2022. Asking price was 42k. Certified pre-owned. Paid 40k out the door

Yes we overpaid, but the dealer overpaid for our trade in. So it equals out.

 

2004 SR5 4x4 bought in 2006 with 30k miles on the odometer...$20k. 2020 SR5 Premium covid edition bought in 2021 with 17k miles...$44,500. My how things have changed.
