On my 2016 Tacoma TRD, I have the standard HVAC option (no auto climate control). The a/c does not work, and neither A/C or the recirculation buttons will even light up. I checked the fuses that I thought were relevant, both under the dash and under the hood. Heater and blower work fine. At the same time, my outside air temperature display shows “E” (related?). I replaced the outside temperature sensor.
Any ideas before I head to a dealer?

A/C probably needs recharge. If refrigerant level gets too low, system won't come on.

If you want to do some testing yourself, attached is the entire manual A/C section of the service data.

FYI… behind the dash there was a connector plug for the ECM Amplifier that was loose. Since it’s a snap plug, I’m guessing it wasn’t plugged in all the way from the factory and it took 63k miles to work itself loose completely. After it was plugged back in, the A/C, recirculation, and the outside air temperature display works fine. Expensive fix at the dealer but I would’ve never found this by myself.

Thanks for the update. Wouldn't have guessed a plug being loose on a 7yo truck.

Luckily this is the only money I’ve had to spend on the truck so far - other than maintenance stuff of course. Previous to this I had 2 tundra crew max’s without a single repair.
