So there i was innocently checking the fridge to see if any breakfast food exists in there and BAM! A tray shrimp leaps out and lands all over my feet with cocktail sauce.

She dug out every toy she has this morning and tuckered herself out playing. :D

    Random movie trivia…

In the movie “Splash”, Daryl Hannah, a devout vegetarian and animal rights activist, refused to eat real lobster for the restaurant scene. The crew scooped out the shells and replaced the meat with palm hearts and mashed potatoes. She reportedly cried after each take at the death of the lobsters.

The past few weeks of disposing of my parents and my useless possessions has made me philosophical about the material stuff we collect. There isn’t that much we really need.
My parents had 6 kids and around 30 grandkids and great grandkids . None of us wants their stuff. It’s enough to make me ponder. :notsure:

    Story time with Tom
I can relate completely. Several years ago, I had moved from CA to Long Island, NY with my then wife, as she was a native NYer. Well, that marriage deteriorated for several years, to the point that I knew it was a dire situation. She was the aggressor, I called 911 once on her for violence. The last straw was one day she got so mad that she literally told me if I didn't get out and never come back, she was going to go into the kitchen, get a big knife, and stab me. As she had casually mentioned several times prior to that day "I lay awake at night thinking of how I could kill you in your sleep"... I took her seriously and decided not to become a statistic. I walked out the door of the house, got in my car, and left for California. I left behind tons of tools, furniture, high school and college diplomas, military things..... things each of my deceased parents had given me over the years.... everything but the clothes on my back, and my car. As soon as I had been a CA resident for the required period, I filed for divorce.

I looked at it like this.

I can replace most "things". And those un-replaceable items, well, those were really just tangible reminders of my parents, Army days, whatever, and I had the memories of those people/events/moments of life that are far more valuable than the reminders of the memories, and I got to take the memories with me.

It wasn't a lot of fun having to start over from scratch, buying new clothes, furniture, tools.... but not only did I live to be able to buy new stuff, I learned that I can survive anything, and that physical things really are not all that truly valuable in the end.
