Hello - Thanks for looking at my thread - I posted this in the general 2nd Gen area and it was suggested to post this in the VA region group for better support - If anyone can help with suggestions - I am forever grateful

Hello - I hate to resurrect this thread - but I'm in desperate mode - my son has a 2007 Tacoma TRD-Sport automatic w/ approx 150,000 miles

My son is stationed in Norfolk, VA and his transmission lines "blew". He limped his truck to a repair facility - they told us they needed to fix the lines at a cost of $600 before they could "test" to make sure there were no other issues with the transmission - after installing the new lines, they told me the transmission is junk, said it only goes into reverse, and not any forward gears - they are giving an estimate of $3900 for a used, no warranty, replacement

I'm trying to handle this remotely, I'm in WI, as my son is attached to a SUB and doesn't really have access to a phone during working day hours - everything in me says we shouldn't need a new transmission, that it's either still low on fluid, as this thread suggests, or maybe a bad solenoid. I don't wanna piss the shop off and ask if they really filled the transmission with the correct amount of fluid - but I don't know what else to do.

Any suggestions or help would greatly be appreciated !!
