Okay, so my speaker system is pretty old, most likely from the early 2000s. We just rearranged our bonus room for better seating and in doing so, we moved all four small speakers to the four corners of the room but kept the once small center speaker just out of sight under the TV. I really don't know too much about the how behind home theater setups.

When we watch a movie now, with the surround sound, there is a slight echo during dialogue.

Do the two front corner speakers need to be brought in, closer to the TV?
Does the one slightly hidden speaker need to be less hidden?
    Both?

    Thanks!

I've never been the most invested on the audio side but your speaker set up (location) really shouldn't be causing an echo.
Sort of sounds like the wiring of the centre channel may be out of phase though if it's just the dialogue.
Try to unhook the wire on the centre speaker and change how it's connected (ie switch which "part" of the cable goes into each port on the speaker).

    Or - try - https://www.avsforum.com/
Get your make model of the system and someone there should be able to help.

Thanks for the tag, @six5crèéd. :fistbump:

@imjustabill1970 - I have a couple of thoughts you could try.

As was mentioned, check your phase to make sure a wire didn't get switched around.

If your receiver has options for your center channel like phantom, wide or 3 channel (or something along those lines) change it to normal so the dialog only goes to the center speaker.

If that's set correctly, check the delay on the speakers. That might either be in milliseconds or at a distance. If it's milliseconds, you'll need to play with that until it sounds correct. If it's distance, get the tape measure out.

Good luck getting it sorted out and let me know if you have any questions.
