Today I installed this aluminum gas cap holder
(Link below). It was easy to install but now I am unsure if it’s supposed to be “raised” when closed. It does click and it’s secure, but my OCD is betraying me and telling me it should be completely flushed. I can’t remember the fit before I installed it. Help?

Looks like your door sticks out. I don't like it. Remove it and see if the door closes flush. My guess is that the peg on the truck is hitting the item that is now attached to the door when closed.

You realize that the gas cap tether is designed to be hooked into the gas cap latch to hold the cap right? Right length, nothing touches anything...

I have the same gas cap holder and my fuel door closes flush.

    Easy enough to figure out.
Take a small dab of grease and put it on the rubber stoppers that the door rest against.
If you have grease transfer to the door, you know it’s bottoming out on the stoppers.
If not, it’s stopping on something else.

I would appreciate it if you follow up with whether it is preventing your gas door from closing all of the way, because I am thinking of getting the same one!

This it what is known as a first world problem. Picayune in the extreme. Do yourself a favor and use it as an opportunity to learn, and let it be the one thing in your life that isn't perfect. Everyone should have something that doesn't matter bugging them... and then take the opportunity to accept.

Gallon of gas goes up by 50c and people loose their mind -

But people still have disposable income to upgrade where the gas cap rests during fill up’s.

You completely trashed the aerodynamics of your truck. It's a total loss. Start parting it out.
