A 4" air mattress is a game changer. And even better is the ability to leave it inflated inside the RTT when it's stowed.

Mine is a 1st Gen CVT wedge style and the foam mattress it comes with sux, so I put an air mattress in it, but I can't leave it inflated. Not the end of the world when it's warm, but when it's cold it sux bad. I haven't found a device that can easily deflate it.

    I'm looking to replace mine.

The inflator i have for my air matress at home has the same size inlet port as the outlet so the valve nose attachment things can go on either end. Normal to inflate or put them on the inlet and itll suck the air out of an inflated matress.

I have this: . Works pretty well to inflate and deflate a small whitewater raft.

People also seem to have decent luck with the portable usb rechargeable inflators that also deflate, like so:

Probably? The trick I use for the raft is I have a couple inch long piece of clear plastic tubing the fits over the inflate nozzle and jams into the deflate port. That piece of tubing fits raft valves perfectly. I bet it would fit the mattress valve too. I can take a couple photos for you. And, my wife has and exped. I can try it on that too and report back.

That would be awesome. I assume the exped is similar. I’m not so concerned about inflating, it’s more about deflating, but the hose is a good idea.

Another thing…I can rough it for 2 days or so with the ole baby wipe bath. The lady on the other hand can go about 12 hrs. So, has anyone built a DIY shower?

I’ve seen the Road Shower which is great and all, but my quick price search showed it $450+. Pretty sure I could build one with all the same shit for less than half. May not be as pretty, nor aluminum but the cost difference for a few hours of my time is pretty large.

Has anyone built one or know a good DIY?
How did you mount it, where did you mount it?

I’d consider to just mount on opposite side that I have the tent open on, on the bed rack…a roof rack seems like a better place to mount it given the additional weight maybe?

Im just trying to get things together as best I can for this summer. Planning to visit all the big National Parks with the lady this summer since she’s not from here.

These work just great. AND it's cheap. AND it's consistent.

if the lady doesn't want to do that...

one of these work just fine: https://www.nemoequipment.com/collections/showers

Truck stops and places like Zion Outfitters in Springdale, you can work it out to shower just about every other day on a 10 day trip. Add in some dry shampoo and wipes.

Beats lugging around that much extra water and figuring out how to heat to your liking. Not to mention making sure you don't contaminate the ground with soaps etc.

Some alternatives to a road shower.

I have considered figuring out places for an actual shower…but, there’s also the thing of stripping down and having a quick shower in the woods with the lady.

I think the dirt I’ll shower on can handle some soap ‘contamination’ as well. I’m not washing my body with Lavender antifreeze.

Just enough to look kinda cool.
They do make biodegradable soap before you get attacked by the eco fokes.
