am i the only one that was anticipating an actual resolution? i have 21k miles driven in 1 year and would love it if there was an issue with the odometer running by itself.. it would help my lease

Who knows, this might be how guys are actually getting 300,000+ miles out of their 3.5’s.

if the ECU detects an imminent catastrophic mechanical failure is close to happening, it speeds up the odometer to just outside warranty range

So off topic to the OP here (but maybe not)...there was a reddit thread that scared the shit out of me. Basically, the poster was asking what to do because they started finding random post-it notes around their apartment with cryptic messages on them. They thought they were being stalked, someone was breaking in to mess with them...a whole litany of possibilities. Until one poster asked about Carbon Monoxide. The OP in that reddit thread went and contacted someone to take a reading and found they were being poisoned to death by high concentrations of CO and it turns out their brain was trying to save them and was trying to get them to realize it. Totally fucked up story but apparently true.

This reminded me when I first got my truck from the dealer, the odo was reading fast. For every mile I drove it would register well over that mile. I took it to our local dealer where they did something to recalibrate it. It's been dead on ever since.

I'd believe this before what seems to have actually happened were it not for the lack of tracks in the snow..

Put a techstream on it and see if the mileage in the computer module matches the cluster mileage you see.

Perhaps unlikely, but I never said never on that one. Especially for a truck from the moon.

Check the Oreos in the cupboard to make sure their tubes haven’t been compromised, and that the creme fillings are still intact.
