Are you angry on the way in and relaxed on the ride home?

I mean, mine is pretty bang on. About .2 MPG optimistic after I hand calculated.

You just work slightly uphill. These trucks are very affected by hills.

When they paved the road the steam roller went only in the one direction, so when you drive back home you're actually driving against the grain, so to speak. The direction that the asphalt was smushed microscopically pushes back against your tire tread and reduces your mileage. :tinfoilhat:. The way to test for this is by putting your tires on backwards and see if it reverses.

I once lived in Colorado where my entire commute to work was downhill from 8500 feet to 5000 feet and my entire drive home was from 5000 feet to 8500 feet and the gas mileage reflected that.

Mine is probably in that range as well. Truck is really cold in morning. Especially here in Denver right now. Get really bad mileage on way to work as I part of the reason is all fluids are thicker than molasses. Even if it is a cooler day at work truck is usually sitting in sun and stays somewhat warm. Mpgs tend to get much better the warmer it is. I drive a Hyundai hybrid now as well. One way to work when it is the teens car will get about 29mpg. Same direction when temp is in 30’s in the morning and I get about 35-36.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
Today I let my old 4.0 have it... I ran that fucker up to shift point in my new 3.5... while my rig hated me. I learned a valuable lesson. Out side, in the field. My 4.0 crushes my 3.5.. absolutely crushed it.

Wow that's super low for a 2.7 you must have a short commute. I get worse in the morning as others have said because engine is cold. The longer I drive the better my mpg. Usually 22+ on highway.

That’s because the 3.5 is better suited as a trolling motor, than a truck motor.:D

Do you eat a huge breakfast before driving to work and then fire off a massive grumpy right before leaving to drive home?

I wasn't driving the new truck hard enough. After some great pointers from tw. I've been driving it harder. Shifting at like 4500 instead of 2700.. my gas mileage has gone to shit. But I learned a valuable lesson I won't forget. This truck has zero torque unless you have like 4.5k on the tack. It's balls out. It likes torture and high rpm. Maybe I'm still just adjusting to it.
