Its like the 701s, method has the wheels that you can air down low without beadlocks. Pretty sure thats what the OP was asking about haha.

Might have a better chance with this question in the wheels and tires section. You will probably also get better traction asking something like DO Methods beadgrip 16x8 0/4.50" fit without issues

However, I'd bet since the page the sell them on says they do, you are probably good. Tacomas come with 16" wheels anyways.

17 let’s you have the option to put bigger 4Runner calipers to upgrade the stock undersized brakes

I cannot think of a logical reason to pick an entirely new wheel and have it be 16

Taller sidewall is a reason. Wanting to put your existing set of tires that already fit a 16" wheel instead of buying new tires is another reason. Different strokes for different folks.

Reeeallly? Tell me more. I just upgraded to 17" 703's and the difference in braking has been noticible.

If all that changed was tires and wheels, I would guess that your new tires and wheels are much lighter, which effectively upgraded your braking power over the previous setup.

Wrong direction. It was a lift and new, bigger wheels/tires so the increase in weight was expected, but Id like to get some braking back if possible.

Only two options there are decreasing weight or improving your brakes.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/brake-upgrade-stoptech-rotors-trd-performance-pads.523829/

Personally, I feel Tacoma's have TERRIBLE brakes. But I'm also coming from a sports car background rather than an offroad/truck background. I did the upgrades outlined in link above and it was a sizable improvement over what was on the truck when I got it (which I think was just standard OEM). Doesn't stop like a sports car but these new brakes have had no problem offroad (steep declines) and even towing light loads. Overall high speed stopping distance still isn't that great though but like you I've got big wheels/tires plus the truck itself is pretty damn heavy so without going with larger brakes I think this is about as good as it's gonna get.

older lighter sedans came with bigger brakes

16” sidewall probably does not air down noticeably better than a 17 especially if both have big tires which they probably do

find the threads on upgrades; 4Runner calipers and tundra master cylinder.

I “upgraded” to Stoptech cryo slotted rotors and TRD ceramic pads, and they still feel like they are starting to warp
It is a direct replacement, not an upgrade
    Upgrade would mean larger

I don't think k the beadgrips are the lightest wheels out there .16" 701 31 pounds compared to my 16" 304's at 24 pounds
