Need compatible locking gas cap

    Hi, Just curious if anyone has been able to find a locking gas cap that is actually compatible w/ a 2014 Tacoma pre-runner 4.0. I've gone through 4 different gas caps :Autozone,O'reilly's, Amazon, etc. & can't find any that haven't cause a MIL on the dash. Hope someone has had better luck. Thanks

    If you are having that many issues with aftermarket, might be best off to just go OEM.

    Will it lock? No. But you’re better off with someone pulling your cap to siphon fuel rather than drilling a hole.

    The STANT® locking cap fits & works -- but it can be finicky and sometimes cause the ECU to throw EVAP-related codes. Not all the time, just sometimes. If have or get a STANT gas cap & you get EVAP codes it's the first thing to check or try swapping out.

    To avoid the EVAP codes it helps to be sure to turn it extra-tight after it starts ratcheting.

    I've had good luck with MotoRad.

    Make sure to clean the "lip" of the filler neck.

    WD-40, silicone spray, etc. Even water will do.

    Try to reseat it a few times when new to let the o-ring settle in.

    Installed a Pop n Lock,,That's it !..Bone stock
    My china made locking cap kept throwing codes....Put the original back on..

    It’s pretty hard to get a hose down the filler into the tank due to the rollover ball that blocks the pipe. From what I understand, most gas thieves just drill a hole in the bottom of the tank.

    I used a q-tip and a bit of vaseline to grease the o-ring and ensure a good seal. Ive used this trick several times on cars over the years. Worked on my oem cap that seemed to be original to the truck. Also worked on the aftermarket locking one i bought from Amazon.

    I really did not realize this was an issue with theft of gas…..
    With that thought I was under the impression we had non-siphon filler necks
