I agree, and this is my first bike with tan walls. The tires are 700Cx50 and 650Bx2.35 so there’s a decent difference in profile. I think the 700C’s are perfect for the type of riding I’ll mostly do.

I’ve heard good things about 650s on a gravel bike, I use mine on the road too much to run them though. I think if an ideal setup would be carbon 700s with a less aggressive tire and aluminum 650s with an aggressive tire.

side note, I did a gravel race with some mild singletrack on specialized pathfinder pros 750x45 or 42, I forget which, and they were solid, I wouldn’t change them

Friendly reminder to replace those linkage bearings. These were the take offs from my Pivot Switchblade after 2500+ miles in two years. Left one is after I washed and degreased it. Right one was seized but I was able to restore it.

Could you feel that while it was installed? I'm paranoid about my bearings but they seem to run smooth every time I check them (not removed though).

@Pugga I dig the ride! My Cutthroat has 2.2”, so close to those 50s you are running. I pay a bit of a penalty when I get out on the road but everywhere else they are excellent! I run the Teravail Sparwoods, so a lower profile tread. But the width is perfect for the an all around ride.

And the tan sidewalls- love the look! I’ve contemplated tan for my Cutt as well.

Honestly, no. No side to side play and with the shock removed the linkage seemed smooth.

    not enough.
They make certain singletracks fun and more lively. It's also good exercise and a way for me to break up the riding.

Thanks! This is my first drop bar bike so I'm figuring some things out. It wasn't overly comfortable the first ride, but i tweaked the bar angle and the seat a bit and it seems to better. Theres a speed trap on the road loop i did, i can get to 21 on the 650x2.35 and 27 on the 700x50's. They definitely roll faster, average speed is higher on the loop also. The loop has a loose gravel road, but i need to get this thing on some fire roads and light single track to see what it can really do!

Does anyone here live near/in Bentonville, AR? I'm thinking of heading out there for a long weekend next weekend and am curious how the trails are running at the moment. Also, how do they do with moisture? I'm not looking to ride in the rain, but I'd hate to fly somewhere with my bike for a long weekend just to find out that an afternoon or overnight rain storm basically shuts down the trails for a couple days.

I was gonna hit Fruita/Moab so I could drive from the Denver area, but a recent storm with more in the forecast shut down that plan.

    Unholy headwinds batman!
Just got finished w/ a 30 mile loop. 80% of the ride was 15-20mph headwinds and some gusts 25.
But the last 5 miles was tailwind.
Hope everyone's able to enjoy the long weekend.

Breaking a chain on hard pedal take off while standing is treacherous. That’s one of the hardest smacks to the ground I’ve had.

My brother in SoCal just ordered the Capra core 4 Thursday afternoon.
He said he couldn't pass up that price.

I like mine for long fast cardio work, and a plus when trails are too wet.

You gotta get me up to speed on that part, I feel like I'm way outta the loop.
Everyone I've met in the last year seem to know about the road I live on because it's part of their ride.
