I’m new and just bought a ‘23 Tacoma, which evidently came with a free oil leak feature. The dealership can’t get me in for 2 weeks, so my anxiety is starting to run wild.

I took a few photos in case knowledgeable folks here might help understand what the source of the leak might be. There is a bit of discoloration on the alternator and nearby areas. As my username indicates, my mechanical know how is lacking.

Any ideas of what it could be? TIA!

Seems like the oil is coming from the filler neck. Check if the 2 silver bolts are tight.

Also the check the cover for the cam sensor.

Wipe it down and spray some brake cleaner and see where the oil coming out.

My wild guess, looks like someone spilled oil while trying to top it up.

Careful with those 2 Bo,ts mentioned. Those are threaded to plastic. You might mess this up and be denied warranty.find another dealer .

Maybe I’ll just keep monitoring the oil level and let them deal with it. Having the warranty denied would be a bad time

Based on its location, I agree with CC. Looks like a sloppy top off on pre delivery inspection.
Since you have 2 weeks, clean the wet areas and keep an eye on it.

My dealer would have put me in a rental. Find another dealership.
I had a rental for 3 months once while they waited for parts to fix my 3rd brake light leak.
That was after 6 years of ownership.
And they gave me a brand new 84 month battery because after 3 months the one in it went bad due to sitting.

    I wouldn’t do anything.
I’d ask the dealership for a loaner.

The more you drive it, the worse you’re going to sling oil.
Absolutely uncalled for on a brand new truck. No way I’d be touching it.

How can they deny a warranty on a 23 unless you have over 60K which I doubt.

He is responding to the guy that said, be careful tightening the nuts on the filler neck.
    Like I said, I wouldn’t touch it. I wouldn’t drive it.

Yupp, I would inquire about coverage at corporate before talking about your specific situation. Have your VIN number handy.

DIY work gone wrong is the possible reason.

@Idontknowsh*t , are you actually 'losing' oil level, or is it just a leftover mess from a sloppy worker?

    Figure that out first.

I spill oil occasionally and it will drip for what seems like weeks. I would just thoroughly wash everything and then look again.

Was the oil filler neck redesigned?
The more I look at it, the right bolt looks loose.
There seems to be gap in the 2 pieces.

Seriously, the filler neck breaking off was a real thing.
OPs neck looks different from other pictures I’ve seen.
The ones I’ve seen use nuts and studs………..

Just keep driving it for two weeks and check the oil every once in a while. A little leak like that is mining to worry about.
