Dobinsons MRR & 4.88’s Installed

Finally, after almost 7 years and 85k miles, I lifted the Taco. Went with Dobinsons MRR and threw some 4.88’s in with some new front brakes.

Still breaking everything in and thinking about tires now. Pretty happy with the setup. I still need to put my SSO full plate slimline bumper on and get to rocking the mall parking lot lol.

 

What coil did you go with and hows the ride? I'm in the process of figuring mine out to order.

 

C59-314 front springs

I59-110 rear springs

It rides really well, better than the 5100's I had on it.

 

Seems like it’s front high . Is that on purpose?

 

It's the pic, it's 3 degrees lower in the front. I have a SSO full plate bumper but I don't know if I'm going to install.

 

Stepped up to 265/75r16. Really digging this Tacoma, it’s renewed my love of it.

KDMax, just an update and couple tweaks.

 

I personally love light tip 4:88 agm 9.0 89 octaine with some 300v racing oil. Best performance and tightest engine feel fo sure!

 

Could you tell a noticeable difference when you got the 4.88 tune?

 

I had the gears and the 4:88 tune around the same time, but that was back in the VFTuner/OVTune days. It wasn't until the latest KDMax 9.0 tune (89 octane) that I felt the most noticeable difference. There were incremental steps along the way, and I keep going back/thinking about the stock tune/gears back in in 2019. With the new gears and a tune, the truck no longer has the throttle lag and gear hunting from the factory. Not to mention, the lower gear ratio physically changes the drive train for the better.
