Splitting hair here, but I've done several drives between Chicago and Seattle; driving 10 over saves about 4 hours on the trip.

Understood, but that's a hell of a trip, though. For a daily commute, its pretty much a wash.

I agree. Best way to commute. Fighting the congestion is a no win situation.

However I do find that I get triggered by terrible driving. No signals, poor lane positioning, blatantly distracted driving, driving way under the posted speed limit, blatantly aggressive bully drivers and all the others whom can't follow the basic rules of the road. I live in a very busy city. A launching point for lots of new immigrants with newly minted drivers licences. Love driving my truck at the posted speed limited while observing the rules of the road and trying to be courteous as much as possible during the daily commute but others quickly take that away. Some days it seems impossible.

Down some quiet logging road out in the middle of nowhere is where the enjoyment of driving this truck really shines.

We just got an a Subaru Ascent. It's got a turbo 4 in it. That thing was great going up and down mountains. Much more enjoyable driving experience than my V6 Taco. I think the turbo does a good job in the thinner air.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Even on non-busy highways (our highways are usually 1/side lane, at best, no freeways to speak of) I'm usually taking my time and taking in the sights. If someone comes up behind me and wants to go faster than the speed limit there's almost always a beautifully clear, long passing lane and no one around but us; and if there isn't in that exact moment well in less than 3 minutes there probably will be.

Sounds like you and I both hate the same city. Just glad I'm a thousand kilometers away and do my due diligence to get even further when possible. :D Every time I have to make my way there, I regret driving myself instead of flying in and rocking the public transit life.

90% of drivers in lower mainland seem to have zero common sense and an absolute lack of a drivers etiquette.

Know what I like doing? Every once in a while I'll line up on a red light with some hot to trot Elantra or Altima or any other heavily abused shit box whose owner can't stop revving their fart can. I'll catch their eye and do a quick brake stand -just enough to visibly tense up the suspension and let them know it's on.

Light turns green, they punch it through the footboard and burn off in a cloud of white exhaust that smells a little too much like glycol. And I? I'll just sit there for a beat watching the paint-chipped, bubbled-tinted Earnhardt wannabe wheeze ahead to the next light, two blocks down. Then I'll turtle along with the rest of my day.

Good for you, partner. You won a race today.
