After weighing many options of how to Mount a roof top tent on my truck I finally found what best suited me. I wanted a tent but at the same time I didn’t want to have to replace the OEM tonneau cover that came with the truck and I still wanted to be able to flip it open. So I decided to Mount it over the cab. I don’t see many people doing this but I decided to just go for it. So far everything is great. When driving you barely realize the roof rack or tent is above you, besides a-little bit of wind noise it’s fine and it’s barely effected my MPG. The roof rack is made by tyger and I got it on Amazon for $500 and the tent is called “woods built” which I found on Facebook market place for $1600 brand new. So this build came to a total of $2100. If anyone wants a link to anything I will provide. My next step for my build is to add all terrain tires and ditch lights. Nice, I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I want to camp with myself, wife, and two kids. My wife absolutely refuses to clime up into a tent. So by putting the tent over the cab, I can have a truck bed tent for her. The kids will pick wherever they want.
