Anyone have tire chains that will fit a 35" tire? Heading to the mountains this weekend and want to at least have a set on hand. Have no intention on using them.

Just in case you do need them or for the check points? When I've gone up and the CHP was checking for chains (even for 4x4s) I just had to show them I had a bag of chains in the truck, they didn't check to see if they were the right size or anything.

Unless conditions are so bad that they are making 4x4s put them on too, but I haven't encountered that personally

That and for reassurance if the weather gets too bad. I've always gotten away with saying I have chains and have never been turned away being 4x but the weather report is calling for a good amount of snow. Was trying to play it safe. lol

Gotcha, I get that...they might even require it if you get on the main roads up there and it's bad enough, I don't think I've ever seen them for 35s but I bet they exist, might have to order online though I dunno if regular parts stores would carry that size. I shudder to think of what they might cost too lol

I had to order mine online, but they didn't ship too quickly. Read the Amazon ones carefully, they come up in the search, but then aren't actually the correct size.

    https://tirechain.com/315-70-17-tire-chains/?sort=priceasc

Maybe you can use those zip tie style ones if they ship faster?

Will chains even fit with 35s? I hadn't tried yet, but since I already have some rubbing, the chains would probably eat up my fenders

We're heading up Saturday. Sunday is dedicated to boarding on the mountain though but might cruise some fire roads on Saturday.

Depends on if you clearanced properly. If you're rubbing already chains would likely be an issue. Unless you're interested in self clearance.

Self clearancing with chains sounds violent. Wish I could make it up there need to do some prep on the old shit box.

You gonna come say hi this time so we can hit a trail? :boink:
It definitely happens, especially on the roads going up/down the mountain. Even occasionally in town, though I’ve always ignored the in town one. My truck usually grips pretty well, even on the racing slicks I have on now :anonymous:
Didn’t take me to a specific item but scroll down to that set of SCC 2226’s that’s $118. Those are meant for 35’s. You’ll just have to cut a couple links off potentially. I used to sell them. Only issue you might have is if you are running mt’s the link might fall into the sipes and be less effective since they are a little small

We'll see. Not really a dedicated wheeling trip but I would like to cruise around the fire roads a bit while we're up there. Probably take them up/down the mountain to avoid the traffic at the very least.

Yeah, $118 is much better than some of the other options listed but still more than I ideally wanted to spend for something I hope to never use. I guess that's what you get when you have a bigger tire though. :violent:

Yeah I get it. I’m cool with just hanging out and shooting the shit since we couldn’t really at Koh. I can always go wheeling during the week lol

that’s actually a pretty good price and fairly standard across the board tire chain wise. Those are actually the same chains I have for my truck, you just cut more links off for the smaller tires. And just wait till you see the Big Bear tax on chains, most (including those) run $200+
