Just ordered some alfarex headlights and while those go in I want to retrofit my spyder headlights that are coming out to see what I can do with them. If anyone has experience or examples I’d greatly appreciate it, I can’t find any after looking for quite a while. Currently just have morimoto 2 stroke 2.0 bulbs in

planning on replacing the existing projector with something from morimoto. I want to replace the high beam and blinker area as well with something custom, thinking of using a morimoto pod light where the blinker is, and using a second projector to replace the high beam, but need some ideas. And of course, I want to paint the housings a custom color, thinking of just using a factory Tacoma black so if I sell them it can still look good on any truck

sharp regular cab, keep in mind the spiders fade and peel fairly quick maybe retro the oem housings for more long term value.

Thanks! I’ve had them on my truck sense 2019 without issues and sense I’m taking them out I want to see what I’m capable of, I think they have a lot of potential to look great and with some love less cheap

I retrofitted mine with HID bulbs and LED turn signals. Very bright with the OEM projector.

Probably not all of these options together but at least some of this combo to make them how I’m seeing in my mind

I believe @Jerez retrofitted his old set. Maybe he'll see this and chime in.

I have the 2.5gen tacoma spyder headlights with the C channel LED DRLs and was planning on retrofitting them. I took them apart, mounted adapter plates to my Morimoto projectors, then found out the stock spyder projectors' mounts are way back on the projector bowl and not where all other projector mounts are. They require welding or some custom made mounts to match up and I said fuck it. I'm retrofitting a pair of stock housings instead. It's much easier and will be higher quality. The spyder headlights do look great on my truck, but the light output is less than optimal even with HIDs.

Unless you have metal machining experience and welding experience, retrofitting the 2.5gen tacoma spyder C channel LED DRL housings isn't going to be an easy task.

i did add new projectors on these headlights a few years back
Theyre actually sitting in my garage collecting dust
I had to cut the projectors that came with these lights; attach the top and bottom to the new projectors using jb weld and then they went right in.

Nice! Why did you not keep them on the truck? I thought about using JB weld, but didnt want to mess up my only set of headlights for my truck by cutting the projector mounts up to swap in new ones. It seemed a little more involved than I wanted to get. I ended up buying new housings online and I'm finally starting my retrofit today with stock housings. I'm giving my spyder housings to a friend who has sun faded stock housings with moisture leakage.

Just installed the alpharex’s today. Not my smartest moment I just assumed I had DRL’s so full time amber running lights with no sequential while it and hyper blinker as well haha. 55 dollar fix for the mistake but at least they look sick

I will be adding a drl and sequential switch back leds to the c bar tomorrow on my spyder headlights . As for the projector lights i am running led bulbs and the cutoff is decent. Ill try and take some pictures tomorrow after im done doing the c bar. I added sequential leds to the c bars on my spyder tail lights a couple of months ago and they came out great.

How did the headlights turn out? We have a set & the light output to terrible. I'm trying to figure out what to do. Was thinking about doing a LED projector retro fit in these housings since the wife likes these. What options do I have?
