I wouldn't doubt it. The metal box appears to be rusted. Maybe it was stored outside.

 

X2, the rust on top would be easy to fix but seems sketchy to me

I should have said painted, but not glued with final sanding.

What you got for clear coat? Looks good!

 

Hit it with a thin layer of epoxy to cover up the sanding blemishes in the star. Went the lazy route rather than wet sanding the epoxy

Its not that im lazy....im impatient

 

I built a toy box for my niece in my two-bedroom apartment. It's made entirely out of a reclaimed Ikea bed frame and slats. The wife designed and painted the lettering.

I installed a soft-closer and left a half-inch gap all around to prevent little fingers from getting smashed.
