I see infrastructure as being the lim fac
Take California, they can’t keep the lights on now. What the heJJ are they going to do when the consumers want to plug in 20 million cars at the same time?

All the EV's in the world don't add up to 20 million currently. Not gonna be an issue when California has 20 million EV's and that doesn't mean they'll charge all at exactly at the same time and in on the same substation.

Edit: Just a quick search there are about 16 million EV's globally registered. 565,000 in California alone.

I believe every state is getting infrastructure money for Ev's specific. Except Texas...of course.

LOL, if you are counting on Lithium batteries not being recyclable as your reason for opposition to EV it would do well to remember that many years ago lead acid batteries where disposed of as trash too. Realizing that was a bad idea, and realizing just how many gas cars needing a starting battery were out there, Lead ended up one of the most recycled metals. There is nothing that makes Lithium batteries NOT recyclable except the small numbers currently out there needing it. Right now EVs are few, and even fewer are at battery end of life or totaled. Most of them totaled are having the batteries resold for secondary uses (home power storage, home built EVs, and by some vendors to rebuilt the few factory packs out of warranty.) Lithium is a valuable metal, it will be recycled and with no more than modest incentives against polluting.

For those of you who seem to HATE EVs I would highly recommend you set aside your attitude for a couple of hours and test drive one. Please tell me how bad they are after a 20 mile test drive. It seems to me that the same public love of ease than makes automatic transmissions outsell stick shifts will make the EVs smooth quiet delivery of power with good low end torque an incentive to their adaption.

To the EV enthusiast I suggest you think about the scale of the USA. About half the population lives in a tiny 50 mile band around the navigable waters of this great country. The other half of us lives in the couple THOUSAND miles across the middle of the country. Liquid fuel powered cars are NOT going away by 2030 unless there is some MASSIVE advance in battery technology.

There is a battery manufacturer just over the hill from where we live. They recycle the lead, the plastic, and the acid.

Thats the thing. All of a sudden the pro oil clan become environmentalists when EV's, that they never have driven even once, are brought up and all of a sudden, "we have to save the planet from the awful mining of minerals", "kids are being forced to mine cobalt and lithium". All that has been happening for decades now but all of a sudden they're concerned. Oil prospecting, refining, transport, piping and burning has done more environmental harm since the oil boom 100 years ago.

California is changing the rules ... California Air Resources Board (CARB) is the responsible state government agency... starting in year 2024 no more new sales of small gas motors ... no lawnmowers, weedeaters, backpack blowers, chainsaws, and etc...
starting in year 2030 no more new sales of gas appliances... try cooking with electricity... in year 2035 no more new sales of gasoline-powered vehicles... electrical power outages are common right now in California ... hopefully the infrastructure catches up with the regulations...

banning of the chrome plating process is being discussed currently by the CARB... no more chrome wheels and bumpers by year 2027...
