Tried to search, but damn this forum is tough to dig through.

Anyone remove/move the flux capacitor looking sub from an access cab rear seat? I think storage and space for my dog might outweigh the need for a sub.

Yeah, I removed mine many years ago. The sound quality is pretty awful anyway. It does leave some holes through the plastic seat back.

Thinking of upgrading CD system/ GPS mapping system, Any Brand recommendations?Does a 2011 Tacoma have speaker wires in the back seat area? How about prewiring for sub woofer? Thanks Mika

If you are going down that path, the best thing to do is bypass all the factory garbage.
I did a pioneer headunit, focal 4 channel amp. Front 2 channels run a pair of Polk components, rear 2 channels Bridge to run a single 8” sub behind the drivers seat. Amp under the drivers seat. The wiring is not that complicated and the sound is night and day better. Plenty of coverage for an access cab.

Any power wiring that may be there will almost certainly be insufficient gage for a real amp.

Pulled mine since the sound was lacking, to say the least. Now I've got three big holes back there with no way to cover/fill them. Seems amazing to me that Toyota would design it to use a different back panel for subwoofer equipped models. Wondering if anybody has replaced the factory sub with an aftermarket speaker that could be made to fit back there and use the factory wiring.

Any updates on this thread bois? I’m currently in a situation where I can have the fold down flat seats from an 07 and swap them over .
But the sub would need relocating. Any help here. I have a joying 10 inch head unit
