I am in The process of installing a 2” leveling/lift kit on my Tacoma. I have the front end on but haven’t had a chance to do the rear end yet. Do I need different shocks for my rear end or can I use the shocks that are already there? Had a buddy that said that I need to get new shocks? Now I’m worried.
    anybody have any advice?

    Toyota's are awesome
How much are you lifting the rear end? within 1'' or so you should be just fine with your stock shocks.

If you are lifting the rear end with 2'' blocks then its most likely not a leveling kit, and if that is the case then you'll need new rear shocks to ensure you aren't topping out.
