I just went back and read the newspaper account of the “accident”. That’s what it was determined to be by the coroner. All too often, the method of exit chosen involves someone else who didn’t volunteer to assist them. They are unnamed and unmentioned in any accounts of record and must go on living their lives with the knowledge that they were an unwitting accomplice to another persons demise. I’ll send you the article from the newspaper. Try to look at this through the engineer’s eyes. All I can say is WTF? That’s all that I got is “WTF”

ps. I witnessed two people hit by cars when I was young. One lived and the other was killed right before my eyes in slow motion. I still occasionally have nightmares about that one. The common denominator that still intrigues me is that both were knocked out of their shoes. The shoes still sat on the road right where they were last filled. I don’t remember the faces anymore but I can still see those shoes in great detail.

 

Yeah but you don’t know how hot their sisters are so please don’t judge them.

It’s crazy some of the stuff that drivers see . That’s terrible.
I have seen some bad stuff and was almost killed myself while helping pull a woman and a toddler out of a wrecked car on 84 west bound near Port Jervis NY . After that I could never stop to help anyone again ,it was that close .

 

Back to work today. Yesterday, not much fun.

In the mid 80s I lived briefly in Tampa.
One day I walked out of a deli on Dale Mabry Highway to witness a terrible accident.

A young woman made a left turn directly into the path of an oncoming car.
Her little econobox car was T-boned right in front of me.

When the cars came to rest, the young woman was hanging halfway out of the passenger side window.
The window had been rolled up at the moment of impact or she would have been ejected.

There was gasoline all over the road and I immediately lifted her out and laid her in the grass 50 yards away.
Her head was covered in blood and she never regained consciousness.
She made horrible quacking noises as she died.

The other driver staggered away from his car.
There was no fire and first responders were there within minutes.

I still remember it vividly, all these years later.
A young life cut short by a lapse in concentration.

Such a slender thread by which one's life hangs...
