I've tried most techniques. It all comes down to simplicity. When I'm Off-Grid/Camping, I'm not enough of a coffee snob to care about the potential difference in taste across the various prep methods.

I Make my own single serve coffee bags using the coffee of my choice. All you need is something to boil water. No gadgets, filters, etc. to clean. Dunk & go!

    https://www.wikihow.com/Make-Your-Own-Coffee-Single-Bags?amp=1

I think I saw that BRC makes single serve coffee bags. I'll have to give that a try sometime.

They exist you just have to do a bunch of research. The Makita is heavy duty though. You won’t find that level of durability in most drip coffee makers. This single cup drip by Salton uses grounds and only draws 300 watts. 285 according to one review. It’s $30 on Amazon.

I prefer French press so the 12 oz electric kettle that draws 300+ watts and works off the plug in the truck works well for me. 5 min to boil. Less time than setting up the stove. $32 on Amazon

Our last camping trip the percolator broke. We took 2 or 3 Kirkland papers and added enough coffee for three or four cups, folded it into a pouch then tied the top with string. Simmered it in a pot of water until desired strength. Don’t think I will replace the percolator…it was a great cup of coffee.

Old fashioned camp coffee via a percolator for me. Get to savor the "fumes" while it perks. Nice big pot is ready for consumption

I grew up with a friend whose mom would make cowboy coffee. Throw the grounds right into a porcelain coated metal pot, fill it with water, and bring it to boil. When it reached the desired consistency she would crack an egg and let it poach at the top of the pot to “settle” the grounds.

Very common here in Maine with hunting, fishing and rafting guided trips. Probably part nostalgia, but it's also easy and makes a great cup of coffee for many.

It cooks instantly and collects all the grounds. Can't taste it and I've never had a piece in the coffee.

So…All I wanted for Christmas was a good cup of coffee. What I got was a great cup of coffee in a system that will replace my Stanley French Press. Wacaco Pipamoka. Think of it as a French press in reverse. Where all the grounds are contained in a filtered cartridge. Fill with boiling water, drop in the cartridge and screw the orange ring until all the water is forced through the cartridge. Perfect brew, Really great flavor with no bitterness. My only concern was that it makes an 8 oz cup. But one cup was perfect for me and satisfied me for a couple of hours. 2 scoops of freshly ground French roast coffee, 5 minutes to boiling water, and presto another cup of amazing coffee.

What is inverted brewing? I have been pondering a purchase of this thing for some time now.

    Thanks!

    Bill,

The inverted method is when you make the coffee in an upside down press add the filter, place the cup over the filter and then flip everything over before pressing the coffee. Here is a link showing how to…https://www.firedeptcoffee.com/blogs/coffee/how-to-brew-inverted-aeropress-coffee?

I have both an Aero Press, and a Pour Over setup for coffee. Nothing beats a nice thick cup of coffee out of the Aero Press around a fire pit.

Have used aeropress at home when making just a single cup, but something about a percolator cup of coffee at camp is just great. The whiskey is always icing on the cake ;)
