I’m going to replace my OEM battery with a Northstar AGM. What, if anything, do I need to do to keep this fully charged? I have a 2021 Taco.

Do I really need a tune or is there another path? Is one of the options to simply connect it periodically to a trickle charger? If so, how does one determine the frequency?

If a tune is the preferred method how do I go about finding out “who” could do this for me in the CT area and how much should I expect to pay?

Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Basically, trickle charge over night once a month or before a long trip. Honestly even a normal lead battery likes this as long as the trickle charger is intelligent.

Check for voltage once a month, after its been sitting for a bit it should be higher than 12.4 ideally.

Most AGMs last a long time even without this, but they are happier with higher voltage or a top off charge.

I’ve had a AGM battery in my truck for almost 4 years now and every month or so it put in on a charger but it’s not really necessary as it’s really a matter of if you don’t charge it to 14.4 volts it won’t last as long. Besides a friend gave me the battery. Also, I’m too cheap to pay for a tune that will bump the charge voltage a bit.
