First time coming up here in 15 years I’ve seen all 3 ways shut down. Time for an adventure.

Serious though, if any of you checked out of your place today and need a place to stay warm, hit me up. I have some space

Man I haven’t been up there in almost 10 years. Wish it had that much real snow when I used to go up there all the time. The artificial ice made it more miserable than fun. Surprised the desert side is shut down, it used to seldomly see snow.

I hear ya. We’ve had a place here for a while now and I’ve seen R3 conditions more recently than ever before. In all honesty, most of the time I think they are overly cautious in so cal, but it’s pretty wild up here right now.

That I have no doubt. They used to shut the San Bernardino side for a slight dusting. On the top 1/3rd of the mountain. Back side was always open. Though that road is super sketchy, especially in the early mornings. Sun rise is perfectly lined up with the road after coming up over the switchbacks

It is probably closed too, think it was a forest service road. But it’s been a long time.

Made it up in R3 without chains drama free Thursday night. Cal trans kept yelling “go! Go!” Or wait, maybe it was “WHOA NO!”

Going down the hill is gonna be interesting.

It is a forest service road, but its one of those trails with no gates so it doesn’t truly close. Try at your own risk though
Its going to suck, and they probably won’t let you down without the chains or at least a fat ticket. Not to mention the shit show it will be. Good luck

I’m not in any rush. Happy to miss work Monday if needed. I have no desire to slide my ass down the hill.

I got word just recently that he made it and is up here. He said it wasn’t terrible but working his way around all the other people that were struggling/stuck is what made it a little hard.

based on what I’ve seen on FB, 1) google maps is apparently sending people through that trail to get here 2) a lot of people are dumb enough to believe google or they were really desperate to snow wheel but there were a lot of people on that trail today lol

We made it up Burns Canyon and to our Cabin. Snow is definitely deep for SoCal but it wasn’t as bad as I was lead to believe from the stories. Stoked to be up here.

we pulled 3-4 other vehicles out that were stuck along the route. There were only a few sections that gave any doubt but 35” tires aired down and double lockers make quick work on most things.
