Cyl 1 misfire/running rich

    How did you know the timing spocket was off?
    and more importantly where to set it....

    and what about the spring loaded split gear on the exhaust cam....
    did you secure that before taking apart....

    are you sure you got that split gear pretensioned and seated right....
    if not your get a lot of noise off that gear running.....

    Also the timing marks on the chain are wear indicators.....
    as those fade.....so does the life of the chain.....

    I'm really glad you posted this because I've been having the same issue after new headgaskets and studs only i was getting a lean code.

    Thanks silver taco...checked that split gear and it was never preloaded.

    check these valve clearances!! I'll need to order those tools and calculate the new shims another weekend. But as it is the cel is gone and it runs SO much better.

    1 and 3 exhaust valves are so tight I couldn't fit a .0015 gauge in!

    ive got bits and pieces coming for next weekend. once the valves are adjusted I'm gonna check compression numbers again.

    btw anyone have a good location to get the shims? or would it just be a dealership is best type deal?
