My wife’s aunt did my dads side of the family genealogy because there were so many kids in my grandma’s family. It is very interesting what she dug up.

 

I was being kind to myself.
Honestly, I dont really care about ancestors, aint like I'm ever gonna be talking to them. Hell, I dont even like the ones that are alive.

 

But I wouldn't be upset if I had a little Asian in me.

Random seasoning of new cast iron pans.

 

What do you use for oil to season? I used grapeseed on one "baking pan". Wife doesnt like the pan for cooking bacon and eggs, seems like its sticking more after i sanded it

 

I've finally got mine seasoned to the point of pretty much just wipe it out and rinse with a little water. It was my great grandfathers so it's bound to be almost 100 years old. It sat around for years and I decided to dig it out and get it usable again. I've found olive oil to be the best oil to cook in it for some odd reason.

 

I use plain old canola oil for initial seasoning and a couple drops and smear it around to store when not in use. The best seasoning is cooking something fatty in it along with oil. That's what worked for mine. Certain things I fry in Crisco for the extra heart attack

I am a freak I know… irritates my dad, because he’s really big in the ancestry. I swear he sends a quarter of his time looking at it
