    In the past I have typically used lard. These pans are new and I ground down the pan to a pretty smooth finish. This tone I used Avacado oil. Today will be the 4 th round of seasoning. I'm considering doing maybe 2 more rounds of seasoning before I start cooking some bacon in them.

    Edit: after every cook, I was and dry the pan with heat on the stove. Then spray with canola oil as it cools.

    The oldest one that I have that I use is 25 years old. Bought it when I didn't know anything about cast iron. Messed it up a few times. Smooth as butter now. In that pan I'll use any of the following, bacon grease that I save, olive oil, ghee butter, butter.
