Please let me know when, exactly, the 4Runner was a sales leader. Sales (of an ancient chassis) have been great for the last 5 years, not so much before then. That's when Toyota was considering killing it.

Comparing the 4Runner to the Highlander is hilarious, as the Highlander is the segment leader. Nothing sells as good as the Highlander in the 3row SUV arena.

Hay man it's just my opinion. I'm baffled by the animosity toward my opinion. Which could be 100% wrong.

Yes it's my opinion and I provided plenty of evidence to support how I've come to form that opinion.

Most consumers don’t even know the difference between a unibody and body on frame and they certainly aren’t driving offroad.

I'd say that the consumer who does and is a 4 runner buyer (seeking a midsize) is not going to suddenly decide to buy a highlander...they are going to go look at Jeep, Land Rover and Ford.

Its like nobody realizes all of a sudden that there is just as much of an enthusiast group that uses the 4 runner off road, overlanding, camping, hunting, fishing etc, just like the enthusiast group that love the Tacoma and do the same things with them only they want a bed.

Those two groups are not going to settle for a Higlander any more than a Tacoma enthusiast will settle for a Ridgline or Maverick.

And before the oh those users are a minority of buyers sound off, I will remind that the Tundra was designed the way it was as a lifestyle truck, for much the same uses for enthusiasts that want a full size truck to do it with.

Fortunately for the enthusiast there are over 100K people that want both vehicles to keep the automakers innovating in the class.

It’s a tiny group of people that actually take their 4Runners off-road. Most are just used as commuters and kid carriers. The majority I see around here are limiteds.

The Texas plant making Tundras and Sequoias “could” make a lot of Runners too, unless Tundra sales drastically increase. If the TGNA assembly efficiency is as much an improvement as Toyota hopes, Guanajuato might be able to make some of the higher trims of the runner, same as they do with the Taco.

Looks like sales in June 2022 dropped off a cliff … gas prices must have done it. They still haven’t really recovered, running at 2/3 of the rate of prior

The point he is making is that if you have evidence (which there is none of) then it's not an opinion, it would be a fact.

I am pretty sure the 4 Runner has sold the most it has ever sold over the past few years. With Covid people wanting to drive Over the Landing has become more popular than ever. There will deff be a 6th Gen 4Runner I am guessing probably the same engine as the Tacoma and Highlander. I know a lot of people are against low displacement turbo engines but I think they are trying to make as many platforms share as many parts as they can. I could be dead wrong but just my guess.

All I’m thinking about is 2023 Kelly Clarkson. I can’t even fully wrap my head around it. I wonder why?

Same applies to the Tacoma, they probably shouldn't make a next gen tacoma

Come to think of it, same applies to the wrangler and bronco, time to stop making those too..

They could but 4 runner fans would like to see production right where it is, so there will be a chance that the quality will continue.
