98 Tacoma corner light to DD SSC2 Backlight wiring

Hello y’all, trying to add some SSC2s to my 98 in that first lower space in line with the license plate but trying to see how I would power the backlights.

Using the harness they sell; would it make sense to tie the backlight activation to the same line that goes to the corner lights since they turn on at the first click? Although I don’t remember if they stay on when the headlights are turned on (away from my truck for a few weeks because of work)

then instead of using the little 3 pin rocker theater comes with the harness, would this oem button work the same way? I have an empty slot I would like to use for it and since it’s an OEM button I’m sure it would look really clean!
