Thats why I think you’re supposed to stay in the same county primarily with historic tags

tons of people in my area live in one and work in another state here. I can be in PA or WV in 10 minutes, just pick a direction. Lol

Sounds nice. Don’t blame you all for bouncing out of MD. I got 3 more months max, can’t wait to get out of here.

Full coverage is full coverage. In all my years of having classic vehicles with historic tags I never heard of a mileage restriction on distance. I worked at a Maryland state inspection station. We had a state trooper that came to our shop to go over the msi paperwork, he specialized in transportation. Right before I turned in my regular tags and tagged my 4runner historic I asked our state trooper about what his thoughts were. I told him that I drive this vehicle every weekend to WV and occasionally to work. Because I own other vehicles I don't drive it everyday. He told me as long as I had a primary vehicle all is good. I asked my Erie insurance agent about it as well and she told me the same. Historic tags made no difference on my policy. My close friend is a MDTA officer, he told me as long as it's not my only daily driven vehicle I'm not breaking any laws. Here in WV it's 25years & older to be eligible for historic. But regular tags & registration is so cheap here and no emissions testing so I'm not too worried about running historic tags here.

The state trooper & transit authority officers I spoke too mentioned nothing about that being a requirement.

From my understanding, its more of an implied guideline. I’m sure its because they dont want people commuting or road tripping on historic tags with shit insurance

My guess is the miles and the fact that I went straight there with only a stop for gas and it’s only about a 15 minute drive to get there.Gonna drive it around a little more for a couple of weeks and try again.

I seem to remember reading that you're limited to 2500 miles annually, but I have no idea how that could be tracked unless your insurance company collected/verified annual mileage. I am shopping insurance companies for the vehicles and the house, Erie comes in strong. I asked the agent about historic tags for my 4runner and he told me it made not one bit of difference. I explained that I enjoy taking the rig on road trips- it didn't matter. I explained that I use it to tow the utility trailer- it didn't matter as long as I wasn't doing commercial hauling.

Hah, you were literally 25 minutes from me. If you took 81 you probably got off at the exit that had the sign for Mercersburg/Whitetail Ski Resort. Although, I avoid Waynesboro as the traffic is really nuts sometimes o_O
