Stock and trying to keep it that way.
Hey kids, looking for a little advice. I’m would like to install a 2000 watt power inverter into my 2012 4.0L V6 “2.5” gen. Here’s the plan. Going to run a 2 battery set up. Wires running from the main battery to a second 12v deep cycle battery. Deep cycle battery to the inverter. Going install a circuit breaker and a battery isolator. Ground wire running possibly to the frame? I was told 2 gauge wire would be sufficient. Here are my concerns:

Does this sound like the proper way to do this job?

Are a stock battery and stock alternator strong enough to power this project?

I’m not exactly electrical savory, concerned about possibly surging the system and frying electrical components such as the computer.

Job seems pretty straight forward but I don’t want to overlook anything and cause problems with my truck.

Any advice or information would be appreciated. YouTube video link below of what I’m thinking of using as my blueprint.

    Let mw know homies✌️

    none yet
    depends
2000W/12V=167A stock alternator is 130A if you have the Tow Package
    then length of run

Assuming you are going to run it with the truck off how big are your batteries? If you have small batteries I would be looking there. a 2000-watt inverter can run through 200-ah battery in an hour at full power. You likely wont be using 2000 watts on the inverter.

What are you planning to run off it? If its lithium you can do 200ah if its AGM you would want 400AH (or 200AH of useable AH from the AGM since you get about 50% discharge on them). 200AH would likely be minimum if you go LifeP04 batteries

hours of use x watts / battery voltage = battery inverter size
