I'm realizing now that I'll have to figure out a way to fasten it on, I'm thinking maybe loose the metal flanges on the pipe and go straight on to the plastic flanges. Fingers crossed :fingerscrossed:

Is that a spacer on top of aftermarket coils?

Reason I ask is there is another member on here that put spacers on top of his taller coils. There reason was same as mine after beefy winch and beefy bumper lost lift . I'm just trying to do my homework cause I'm possibly thinking of doing the same .

Welp, installed the new intake pipe today and it went way smoother than I was anticipating. Once you pull the metal ends off of it, it seats into the flanges posted in the op nice and snug. Used some worm gears to fasten it on beyond that and I feel extremely confident in the seal. Also went to HD and picked up a 4" pvc flex cap to plug the old hole, tried a bunch of fittings in the parking lot (was planning on using pvc cement and sealing itb that way) but none of them fit. The flex cap was a smidge loose but nothing that cranking the worm gear down couldn't fix. All in all much happier with the mod like this and offers way more flexibility with it

Nice work. I think I’m going to redo mine like yours.

Also good call on the cap. I’m going to swap my glued in piece for the cap idea. Since in good ol’ CA this mod will fail emissions inspection. Being able to undo it easily would be nice.

Anyone found a reliable work around for those of us that have the abs junction manifold there? Mounting my compressor in the cab because of this. Not a huge fan of moving the junction unless absolutely necessary. If I do that might as well make all new lines. Thoughts?

I like this mod. I’m planning on building out my truck as a prerunner and keeping clean air has been a concern and I don’t like the traditional snorkels, but this…this is perfect.

Being able to undo it was nice bonus to a clean, easy install. We've had snow since I did the initial install and I was super worried it'd find its way into the airbox so something like this was a no brainer

Is the air box still mounted in factory holes?

It didnt but i have the fender "plugged" up, basically just plastic cover self-tapped on..so it does a decent job but not water tight by any stretch

Yup, that was a big reason I went with this style over trying to make the silicone pipe work

Do you have pictures of when you drilled the holes?

Into the cowl? I don't but i basically just traced the flange on the inside of the engine bay as high up as I could reasonably get it and just eyeballed it from there. definitely be careful with that wire harness though, i nicked the jacket but thankfully didnt see any copper so I retaped it. Also I wasnt able to fit my drill inside on the drivers side of the cowl so we just did 2 holes on the passenger side and really opened it up, no issues with airflow in the HVAC system

Was there a noise increase in the cab?

Nothing from daily driving with an open hole, it's definitely in your best interest to close it but I didn't notice any in the airbox when I checked

There was definitely more intake noise right after I did it but it seems to have gone down since, maybe the ecu is accounting for the new routing. Other than during hard acceleration though, about the same

I have an aftermarket intake on mine. It made enough of a noise increase I’m debating on back to stock intake.

Mine hasn’t had water but I founds sticks and pine needles in mine.
