Got a larger rear veiw mirror
Hi I need some help from the 5lugers lovers guru’s out there. I got 2 questions. First I want to install a instrument panel with a tach. Is it plug and play for a reg cab with a 2rz and can I use any panel from a Tacoma or 4Runner that fits. I read somewhere that the ones from the v6 don’t read the tach accurately, is there some way to make it give an accurate reading? My next question is about the addco 656 rear sway bar. It is 7/8 and it is made for 4x4 and prerunner or the same year. I know I have to get brackets to mount it to the axle but if I make custom mounts and the right size endlinks to attach to the frame can I make it work? As anyone out there tried to install the addco 656 on a 5lug with about a 3inch drop in the back? Thank you to anyone who can help.

4runner gauges are different. They may look like they're close enough to fit but the mounting points are different - 4runner is on top, Tacoma is on the side.

Any Tacoma clusters from 98-2004 are electronically controlled and will fit and should be plug and play. The column shifted trucks have a gear indicator in the cluster and the console shifted trucks don't. Just something to look out for. Clusters from 95-97 are cable controlled and will not work.

You're correct about the V6 cluster not reading the tach correctly. The tach is controlled through the digital odometer module and along with the mileage can be reprogrammed to read correctly. There was a member on here that could reprogram, can't recall the user name at the moment.

Kenneth up there answered it pretty well. Just remember the PreRunner/4x4 chassis are completely and totally different and suspension parts aren’t interchangeable.

The Tacoma S-Runner came with a rear swap bar and is built on the 5-lug chassis o you could look there.

Spanks everyone for your answers. I know that they make a sway bay made for the 5lug but the largest one I could find is 3/4inch. Does anyone know someone who makes a larger one than 3/4inch for the 5lug?

Thanks everyone for your knowledge. I just got one more question before I think that I can mount a addco 656 sway bar that’s meant for a 6 lug. I know the suspension is different on a 5 lug but is the frame and axle the same width; only difference is that the 6 lug is fully box. If I just box of where the end links connect to and nothing major gets in the way that it could work? What you people think? Thanks for your time

Yes but I was looking and it at summit racing and their addco model no aco-k1-656-04 says that it doesn’t fit the 5lug and only is for the 6lugs. The only sway bar that I found that fits the rear for the 5lug is 3/4 inch. Thanks so much for showing me this on from Jegs. I will get order from jegs.
Thank you bartmaster for your time I really appreciate it.
