I’ve recently replaced balljoints on my 2nd Gen With Moog. It’s been only three months and they are already worn. A coworker and fellow Yota owner told me you have to use Toyota parts or that will happen. The thing is, Toyota makes you buy the whole control arm! Should I try Moog again as they are under warranty, or spend the dough on control arms through dealer. Thoughts?

Did you grease the Moog ball joints on installation?

How do the inboard bushings look on your 10 year-old control arms?

Many have reported the quality of Moog has gone down in the past few years.
But 3 months? That seem like a really short lifespan.

I’ve used Mevotech on 2 different Ram trucks.
So far they have held up fine.

Before you do anything, take a look at the over all condition of your suspension.
Are you lifted? Do you wheel your truck hard and often?

3 months is short. I can’t see them wearing out that fast.
If they did, it would almost have to be a manufacturing defect.

The Boots were sealed and pre greased. The control arm bushing are in good shape. It’s a florida truck.

The lower joint on the passenger side is really the bad one. The driver side still has life. Truck gently pulls to the right so makes sense. I have bilstein 5100 set at 1.75 lift. So it’s not a huge dramatic lift. I hunt in the WMAs here and I ride gravel roads on the weekends. But I wouldn’t think that would burn out the joints like that.
