Recently I picked up a 8" Kicker hideaway to fill in some of the missing audio void the JBL system has. The system is ok for stock but just barely, I plan on doing a total overhaul down the road and eliminating the JBL but for now until more funds come together the kicker sub will have to do.

It seems the JBL is heavily biased to the front speakers and most of the bass in the JBL system is produced from the 6x9 woofers in the front doors, in fact I would say that in testing the JBL sub it doesn't even start moving or producing audible bass until the music is cranked up pretty high so it's basically useless at normal listening levels.

My question is since the Kicker Hideaway is rated at 25-120Hz, and the specs on the stock 6x9 JBL woofers are rated to play 20-550hz+/- would it be best to tap into the front door speaker for line-level out instead of the JBL sub output for the hideaway? I've read on the forum that most people who maintain the JBL system tap into the sub for their line level output but based on the audio specs and the heavy front bias it seems like the front door woofers would be best. What do you think?

generally it's better to tap into the sub output of the amp because it won't have the higher frequency information the front channel does.
