Weird AC problems and water on floor

That’s why I am wondering if this line is supposed to have insulation from the factory and somehow mine does not.

Also, I have read at least two other posts on here about the same issue that are still unresolved.

 

Dealer is done with the truck but I didn’t have time to pick it up today. Service writer said that Toyota advised them not to do anything to the lines and that the condensation is expected. Dealer went ahead and wrapped the lines with dynomat supposedly and is going to sort it out with Toyota. I asked for photos but highly doubt I will ever see them.

I have heard of people using dynomat for sound dampening but does anyone have any experience using it for thermal insulation on pipes? Is this something I should be concerned about?

 

if I had that problem, at this point, I would just buy a weather tech of similar floor mat and have some rag or paper towels around to absorb the drip once it started. Dealer further messing up the ac might cause more problems down the road.hope you find closure in this .

 

That sucks in my opinion. It is a 2020 under warranty. I would be calling Toyota. No way I would accept a vehicle that leaks water on my passengers feet. I would look into lemon laws if applicable

 

I have the rubber mats already and am not worried about the water on the floor so much as what else is getting wet behind the glove box. I can see wiring and the blower motor getting dropped on and also some other harness behind the dash.

This is what has me bummed out. I bought a brand new truck and did not expect to have the dealer tear apart the dash to install some homemade pipe insulation with sound dampening material that could possibly mess something up thermally or trap moisture and get moldy/mildew deep in the dash.

I have asked for pictures of the work but don’t have high expectations of ever seeing them. I guess I can go into the dash when I get it back to take a closer look.

 

Yeah you’re right. It’s a nightmare waiting to happen as mentioned. electronics and water don’t mix. Hope you a fix for this. Maybe escalate it .

 

Does anyone have pictures of a 3rd gen dash torn apart enough to see what the ac lines should look like? Or a photo of the line out of the truck? I tried searching here and google and couldn’t find anything great.

 

I have a 2020 SR and the same thing happened to me once but I attributed it to living in a hot humid climate. Never dripped since

 

Mine drips every time the ac is running for more than 15 minutes above 80 degrees out.

 

Wow. That’s unacceptable . Disregard my comment above ^^. There’s something wrong here.

 

I would definitely look for another dealership…. Sorry for all your troubles.

 

I wish there was another decent dealer close to me. 3 in total, 1 is not even worth going to and the other is hit or miss. I have had the best luck here out of the 3 but nervous to see what they did when I I pick up the truck tomorrow morning.

 

What ever happened with this?

 

I ran into this issue after running the AC for over an hour. Final culprit was a warped evaporator box which led to leak. Maybe my thread can help?

@TacomaVirus was there any ever definite resolution to this issue?

I just took my truck (‘21 with 28K miles) through the car wash just like I have dozens of times and now there is water on the passenger floorboard that looks identical to your original photo.

Also, the AC now does not work…so it’s the exact same as your problem.
