So recently got my 2017 Tacoma Off road package. About a week of ownership and its in the service center.

-Oil leak, Rear crossmember Is coated in oil and drips when running. Service center states rear timing cover Is failed, 20hrs labor to replace. I could be wrong since I'm coming from ford vehicles but wouldn't that be the rear main, only vehicle I can think of rear timing is the older explorers
    - skid plate damage, dealer found undisclosed damage and missing bolts, confirmed they will fix free of charge
    - Bad tires, imo the tread was alright had decent life in them but they said they will give me a new set free or charge
    - flaking paint, paints flaking on the driver's rear door, once again they'll fix free of charge

Haven't had a chance to check for that crossover leak. Is there a good angle to get a look at it?

Skid plate damage maybe distorted the Oil Pan Drain Plug causing a leak?
I would want to climb under it and look before I paid the shop 20 hrs labor..

I'm not paying anything. All of this is covered by the dealer. They said it's their fault and it should have been taken care of prior to sale

Neither by the buyer too apparently.
Crazy to see folks forking over huge cash for a used vehicle and they don't even bother to look underneath

That’s generous of them. So all these problems just popped up the day you picked it up ? Or what happened ?

There is also no such thing as a rear timing cover. It’s only in the front… maybe the oil got blown back towards the rear.

Rear seal or timing cover seepage would be hard to spot unless you get under the truck with the skid plate removed and you have a flashlight.

I did that when buying my Tacoma and the salesman thought I was nuts....but he refused to put it up on a lift so I was left no choice

Glad you spotted it and they're making it right. Sounds like solid folks, not sure everyone would be so kind.
