Toyota pioneered 4cyl turbo trucks back in the ‘80’s and decided that a V6 was a better match for their customers. Who am I to argue that in 2023?

I haven’t heard anyone declare that Toyota quality has been getting better w each redesign but I’ll be excited to hear from the Gen4 early adopters.

Meantime get yourself the genuine article now b/c someone else will take it (and probably pay over sticker).

I dig the simplicity of a v6 or straight-4 or straight-6. I’ve had some bad experiences with little turbo-4s trying too hard too to deem them uber reliable. Granted that was with an Audi 2.0T that’s supposed to be bulletproof which proved to be not the case. There is no replacement for displacement.

Five dollars says the very first non mod post on the 4th gen forum will be a tire size question.

The very second post will be about Rock Lobsters banning after he says a mean thing about the first.

If it’s a turbo, someone will make a tune to increase the spool pressure and then it will grenade itself.

As someone who turns the lights on manual during rain, it really would make me grit my teeth, since the sensor will often detect lots of light even with compromised visibility. Anything related to core function or safety needs to have a hardware control. Even if it’s something you use infrequently. The one tool in my garage that I never have trouble finding, the extinguisher, is the one I haven’t had to use (yet)

A lot of new rangers are tuned, according to their forum. For the most part, most engines seem to be fine. Surprisingly.
