My truck has a manual transmission, so my cup holders are different from yours. But, my experience may be useful in answering your question.

Originally, the ring around my cup holders was a shiny chrome. I had de-chromed the rest of the interior, so this really stood out. It had to go.

The first thing I did was strip the chrome chemically. This involved a soaking in a solution of strong bleach and Drano for about two weeks. After that all the chrome had flaked off and I was left with black plastic.

Then, I spray-painted the part with Dupli-Color Toyota Magnetic Gray Metallic. As you can see from the picture below, this is a close match for the slate-gray highlights in the interior.

So, I would suggest getting the AJT Design ring that you mentioned (in black), and spraying it MGM. At least you won't have to strip off the chrome.

How closely does it match hard to tell from the photo, ingenious approach.. I wonder if anyone has one that they are selling since ppl swap these out for the various colors or does those usually go over the top vaneer style?

The color match is closer than it might appear from my photo.

MESO Customs has the cup holder surround for the automatic transmission Tacoma ($20). https://mesocustoms.com/products/interior-chrome-delete-kit?variant=31246309195889 He doesn't offer it for the manual transmission, which is why I had to strip the chrome off my original one.

MESO offers it in MGM, but it's out of stock. It's currently available in black. But it's better to get it in black and paint it MGM anyway. The molded-in MGM color doesn't match quite as well as the paint.

Where do I find a black cup holder ring for my 23’ manual transmission?

    Thank you
