You should have enough on the ground and you don't have to reach so far. Just use a floor jack to hold it in place. If it's to tight put the truck on jack stands (but, I guess ramps in this instance are just as good adn easier.

I can get my skids on and off without lifting the truck also (even before tires and bigger lift). If you do want to get the truck up to work on it I'd suggest ramps.

I am not out to destroy my truck. A ding or two is the cost of doing business in my opinion. I like to push the truck and myself, so sometimes things happen. First one makes you sick to your stomach, but it gets easier after that... Plus I love the challenge of a difficult trail or line and thinking about how to make the truck more capable to handle that situation again. I have had plenty of "overlanding" trails that put me in deep and I like knowing that the truck and my skill set can get through safely.

    Sounds legit, I'll take it.

My new reaction as I inhale a Twinkie: "Behold, curious onlookers! You are witnessing millions of years of biological adaptation in action. Darwin himself would be proud of this efficiency!"

I must have misunderstood you a reply to Jerry earlier. It reminded me of a thread on 4Runners.com where a member had posted a picture of a 5th gen 4Runner that was basically totaled, saying something along the lines of " here's someone who actually knows what a 4Runner is built for." I get the impression that some folks think you're not wheeling unless you are breaking stuff.

I have been having fun this last few years. Slowly working my way up to more challenging obstacles. But, a big part of the appeal for me is having the ability to reach destinations that not every vehicle can get to. So, I can see the appeal of both styles.

FWIW, I'd minimize how far you jack up the truck, so as to not have to lift the skid plates any further than needed.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. They total $1095 (pre freight), which is over the $1000 mark so the 20% discount applies. The "dammit" was because that makes it harder to say no...

I'm afraid to ask because I think I know the answer with this particular audience but here goes anyways...for those of you with upgraded fogs like the Dynamic Diodes - was it worth it? I'm considering the SS3 Max's but it wasn't in the plans/budget quite yet. Just not sure if I should do it now or other mods that would give more immediate benefit. Also not sure if truly worth it for us around these parts or just overhyped for the Instagram bro points for the look of yellow lenses and what not.

That's a great deal on that skid, someone get on that.

That thing is pretty rad...but not $16k rad.

Finally got the cross tube for my Hammer Hangers. Should stiffen up the rear more then it already was. Easy 10 minute install.

Definitely go with Diode Dynamics if you're going to do fogs. I have not done them yet, but I have read enough to have my mind made up. I hear nothing but good things about them, and if I'm not mistaken, I heard recently that hotshot off-road was having a sale. :boink:

I have the ss3 pro fogs in yellow and they are awesome. So much power for street legal lights.
I would say if you want to do any light upgrade on your truck get the ss3s first. They work phenomenally in snowy conditions.
My only regret is not buying the Max version. The pros don't have a clean cut off line like the sports and max.

I may or may not have been the one who first posted the sale. I might end up a victim of my own instigation lol.

That basically exactly reinforces what I was expecting. Originally I was going to do the Pros as well but more reading in the Crashnburn megathread changed me to the Max. In the words of tiger king I will never financially recover from this tax sale…

I have the pro's in yellow, get the Max's. The pros are so bright I can't use my fogs anymore because I get flashed (and yes they are adjusted per the DD instructions-done it now three times...) They are amazing on a rotten day, and they really throw wide so they catch deer etc. I love mine.

Awesome thanks, I think that seals the deal on the Max’s.

Yep, I just ordered a set of Max lights. Fortunately I can save $80 since I already have ss3 fogs and don't need the hardware.
