Dealers only charge more for fake bed decals b/c some actual buyers will pay them. Been that way since the Flintstones bought their family car…nothing to see here, just always do your homework is all

I think calling Places like that dealerships is far fetched...

Fraud? Give me a break, people try to sue over any little thing. It's literally just a sticker. Quite obviously not even a factory Toyota "TRD Sport" sticker at that. If you pay $38k for a vehicle and you didn't notice that it wasn't the trim level that you wanted, that's your own fault. Buyers have responsibility too.

I'd only hope a court case would go like this:
Plaintiff: Judge, I paid $38k for a 2wd truck but turns out it's not the trim level they said it was.
Judge: You said you bought it right?
    Plaintiff: Yes, here's the receipt.
Judge: Okay, VIN# on the receipt matches the VIN# on the vehicle. Plaintiff, you owe me and the dealership $1MM for wasting our time & tax payer dollars. Case closed.

Good thing no one takes their legal advice from you. You cannot advertise something as something that it's not (especially when you are charging extra for that thing that it's not). I don't disagree that we should all be educated consumers, but unfortunately, we're not...nor are we all going to be...and there are consumer protection laws in place to protect consumers from this very thing.

No, not really, other than the availability of higher trim and equipment levels, the TRD Sport has a more road oriented suspension, much better wheels and tires (assuming on-road usage), and of course a real TRD Sport decal and Skewp. :p

How does me stating my own opinion, which directly goes against yours (but is legally right)…make me a sheep?

Look man, I’m sorry that you disagree with the law. But that doesn’t change the law.

Lol, sheep need other people to protect them. If a sticker fools you into paying $38k for something, you clearly have more money than sense.

Edit: There's 2 kind of people in this world, wolves and sheep. You two, are clearly not wolves.

Car salesmen in general, but especially at those dime-a-dozen/buy-here-pay-here sleazebag lots, don't know dick about what they're trying to sell. They only know what badges/decals are on it. The onus is on you to know WTF you're going to look at. Putting them on blast on the forums, well, no shit they're deceptive scumbags - they sell used cars! :duh:

Who ever buys it will know two things.

    1. It's a Toyota Tacoma

    2. It has a power driver's seat.

Those are the only things who buys it will care about.

Edit never mind 3rd gen SR SR5 wheels.

I see it was dressed up with some 2G wheels and knobby tires.

It is a buy here/ Pay here. Why would you even consider buying something from a used car slime. The guy doesn't know anything about it because he bought it from an auction. There is undoubtedly something wrong with it if it is on their lot.

yeah, it's pretty amazing, some think criminal. Unethical? maybe, but not criminal. When I was a bartender years ago, we had guys that ran a lot in the city that did this, they made a mint. I think they also had a hustle with the tow and impound yard, so those fees were part of their scheme. Of course large down payments and insane interest charges were too.
Offshoot; one of them used to drive nice new sports cars to the bar, get blind ass drunk, and have one of his tow truck drivers come tow him and the car home.

Even some of the salesmen at Toyota dealerships don’t know very much about the stuff they’re selling. I had to teach the guy who I bought my truck from that the hood scoops on Tacomas aren’t functional.

He was genuinely sure they were legit hood scoops when he was trying to sell me a Sport. I already knew what truck I was buying (not the one with the skewp) but I told him to pop the hood on the Sport and his mind was blown lol

He also didn’t know my truck had Apple Car Play or a power rear window, so those were nice surprises for me

I’m not surprised a fly by night place is selling something like that.
