These are the worst noise I ever experienced.

 

That is like music to the ears

 

The boggers produce zero noise. Except for the mud that is getting slung out and hitting the inner fenders or the side of your vehicle.

 

I am kinda boring in my choice of tires - I’ve been running BFG KO2’s on just about every 4wd vehicle I’ve owned. I have no idea how well they perform compared to other tires though. The set I have on my Tacoma I ended up getting for $100/tire @Discount Tire - take-offs from a brand new Jeep with (according to Discount) around 50 miles on them. They looked brand new.

 

They are great tires, tough as nails. I think the tread pattern is a bit outdated, been almost the same for 40+ years.

 

just threw on Wildpeaks a week or so ago. I can feel the weight difference compared to the Firestone Destination tires that came with the truck. Nothing drastic. Not convinced they are 100% balanced. They do feel grippy

 

Heavy in the steering, lots of scrubbing the pavement on turns, heavy in the acceleration, hit the mpg, wouldn’t balance for shit. The only positive was good traction. Traded them for General Grabber ATX, worlds better, every complaint disappeared. I have Toyos now and like them a bit better than the Generals.

 

Hm. Maybe you got a bad set?

Wildpeaks seem to be the most popular AT nowdays. At least over here.

My pizza cutter wildpeaks have been perfect so far.

 

I have the Toyo's on my F150 and like them. I have Goodyear Ultra Terrains on my Tacoma and like them. But I use those trucks differently and they are very different tires. The Goodyear's are more aggressive, a little loud, and don't ride as good. But the 16 year old Tacoma isn't used for long trips.

The newer F150 needs a quieter, more civilized ride and the Toyo's meet that critera. I've never had the Falken's, but I think they are closer to my Goodyear's.

 

I believe you, as I know Swampers are loud. Technically I wasn’t wrong though, as I’ve never ridden in a vehicle with Swampers.

 

Maybe. I was excited to try them, as they were all the rage in March 2021. My set were a disappointment for sure. I checked and all 4 were SL as they should be. 265/70R17. They all came from wherever the desirable place to get them from was….I think it was Thailand. I had seen no bad leading up to them and then after I got them, of course I start googling about tire balance and I found a decent number of Tacoma owners with issues (my problems were on a Frontier). There are of course a ton of people with no issues. But after that experience, I definitely didn’t like them. Oh well.

 

I used to run these before running M/Ts. They are a great tire. Especially in the snow

I was skeptical trying these tires, especially being made in Thailand.

Man, they never let me down and I’m Not easy on them at times.

Falken Rubitrek AT 116t. Better on the highway than wildpeak with almost identical tread pattern. No highway noise at all. Only 44lbs per tire. Cheaper than wildpeak as well, unless you accidentally by 10 ply...

I use them for the exact situations you’re (OP) stating.

Did many years across 3 different trucks on duratracs they will always be a favorite for an agressive A/T. I ran them on road off road tons of gravel every winter condition and I have no major negetive points to make. Wouldn't hesitate to slap on another set. One other that's overlooked that many around here run that have my eye on if the MT'S don't work out is the Yokohama ATX.

 

IF you are looking at the "ideal" 265/75R16 sized tires on a stock rig, both come in a "P" or "metric" type, which sounds like what you are looking for. I'm a Toyo fan, but either one would do the job. Price matters.

IF you are far enough in the woods, and on blast rock roads, then I'd go with the Toyo in an E-rated LT size. I'm running Toyo M-55s in 235/86R16 because changing a tire in grizzly country in the dark is not fun.

 

I much prefer the falken wildpeak at3w, it preforms wayy better in wet conditions and has way less street noise if you spend most of you're time on road. Not to mention that they're good in the snow with the three peak snow rating. That's what I run on my truck, here's some pics!
