Changing the fluids was on my mind as well. When I crossed 50k I decided to make a point to get them done. I highly recommend the YouTube channel team oil drop! Changed my power steering, rear diff, t case, transmission, and front diff in two weekends… at a pretty leisurely pace! Diet Coke in hand
Best part, didn’t have to jack up the truck. Much different than my previous car… Mazda 3

Before and after with the power steering. Whole project cost me 2 quarts of ATF. I ran one quart through with the hand vacuum pump to “flush”. Probably not necessary?

My truck is a manual transmission. So I can get away with the 75w-90 and a simple drain and fill. I understand those Automatic transmissions are a bit more work? Whole project took me 20 mins..

I bought this Ravenol kit online. Comes with the specific weights and quantities for the differentials and transfer case. This 75w-85 and 75w stuff isn’t readily available…. and these damn dealers want over 100 bucks for a liter of t-case oil… na fam. This whole kit was $150ish.

Here is some of rear diff oil. Not all pictured. You’ll get 4 quarts out if you have 4wd and locker.

Pretty sure this was from the front differential.

All in all this was stupid simple. Hardest part was the front differential. Really just because of access. I didn’t jack up the truck/pull wheels which would have made access easier. I think I’m into all these fluid changes around $200 bucks and 3ish hours of my time. Worth it in my book.

My Mobile mechanic quoted me $80 to do both diffs and trans if I bought the fluid.

Not big on aftermarket fluids especially the ATF when it comes to these asin automatics. Learned awhile back they prefer the Toyota Atf. When I used a different brand in my tundra, even though it was suppose to be recommended, it screwed up the shift points over time needing a flush, and replacement of the Toyota aft. Truck performed fine after that while never using anything else, but from Toyota.

Nice. I’m no expert. All I know is to keep the slippery stuff in it.
I’ve heard that Toyota oils are just rebranded Mobile1. Obviously Toyota doesn’t manufacture their own oil. Might have seen that on the car care nut YouTube channel?

Hey guys. River view Toyota in AZ just quoted me $878.73 for my 2-19 30K mile service. Called another local dealer who quoted $400.
The manual looks like it calls for oil change and lubricate the propeller shaft, re torque shaft bolt and inspect a bunch of shit.

After reading this thread I’m leaning towards the oil change and getting my tires rotated for free at Discount. I never 4x4, is the other stuff important? Thx very much.

You should probably figure out what each dealer actually does other than “30k” maintenance

    Great points, thank you.

Riverview Toyota said it would cover a brake fluid exchange, a fuel induction service, a tire balance, and alignment. That and the oil change.

All you need is brake fluid and oil change and tire rotation.
Technically front and rear diffs are due too, but that can be debated.

How many times do I have to say it, ONLY use the dealership for warranty! SOMETIMES their parts are fairly priced but I only say that because of ALL the dealerships I've priced only ONE has been fair, I used to say none are.

use a reputable mechanic for maintenance and everything else if you either can't or just don't want to do it yourself.

Just a few accessories, mud flaps, bed cover , racks, seat covers, ….
They say gas vehicles must be replaced by EV vehicles!!!!. I say dealers must be replaced, they are causing more pollutions by wasting these oil and chemicals.

I took my '21 Off Road in for the 20K service a while back and they "recommended" a wheel alignment for the tidy sum of $129. I asked them to show me the uneven tread wear and was told, "they have a tool for that". I then asked how long the alignment would last and they told me, "we recommend an alignment every 20K miles". I still haven't done it and if and when I decide to have it done I'll take it for a lifetime alignment for less money. I had the 30K mile service done last week. I told them I had issues with the last visit, being that they stripped one of the bolts on the skid plate, didn't put a gasket on the oil drain plug, and over tightened the filter canister. I told the "service advisor", ask me how I know that. I got the deer in the headlights look. I told him that I do my oil changes in between their 10K required ones at 5K miles. I then told him, "do not rotate the tires, there are two new ones on the front" (NOT due to alignment, the stock Wranglers just wore out early). When he came to get me an hour and a half later and said I was good to go he said, "your oil change and tire rotation were covered..." I told him, take it back and put my tires back like they were, which they did. Then they sent me a survey in my email. When I got done with it the service manager sent me one apologizing for their screw ups.
