I have a 1995 Tacoma that runs good but the truck is shot. I bought a 1997 truck that is in good shape that did not run. I thought i could get it running but after further investigation, it has no compression on cyl 2 and 3 and only 60psi on cyl 1. both trucks are 2.7, but i see some differences like the obvious distributer vs distributerless and the intake. is this swap compatable?

You can swap everything off new engine and put on old...
even block the distributor port with a freeze plug....

however, the biggest problem is you dont have a cam sensor on the old '95 engine head...
and thats a big problem.....I dont know of a workaround.......

Could I swap the head from the 97 engine onto the 95 engine to take care of the cam sensor issue? It’s a shame the truck don’t run, the whole top end is all brand new. The head has been completely gone through.

    Well Come To the forum!

I don`t know enough about the 2.7 never working on any.

Where you live also factors in for emissions.

Mixing and matching the two different years you need to decide just what year you want the engine to be.

Then match the engine harness with sensors and ECM to that year.

When doing the 3.4 Swaps having The *EWD`s for all the years involved is a must .

Good luck! * EWD electrical wiring diagrams!

Long shot is you might have correct head somehow....

You could always check and see if there is a cam sensor port....
its right there between injectors 2 and 3....

or buy another head....those run $500 to $900 for new/ and rebuilt....
    and higher for performance ones.....
